The Flagellants

New York: Ferrar, Straus, Giroux, 1967. First Edition. Hardcover. 1st edition in English of her first book (a 1966 French edition precedes but Carlene Polite was an American). Fine in a dustjacket with a 1/8“ tear to the bottom edge of the rear panel and some rubbing, else near fine. Signed and inscribed on the dedication page, “X–mas. 75. For Korby and Burt (In the name of some Dear Readers who heard tell of all this–Since Way Back When…) Carlene Polite” and since it’s headed “X–mas. 75” it was probably a gift. Not a scarce book but it is half–scarce as a presentation copy. fine / near fine. Item #846
